Common Methods of Glass Polishing
Method 1: fire polishing The use of flame to soften the glass surface and the impact of fire on the glass can solve some grain lines on the surface of the glass product, but the flatness of the glass surface after treatment will be reduced. The mouth of the general hollow vessel glass is rough after cutting and can be polished by this method .
Applicable material glass: soda lime glass, high borosilicate glass
Method 2 polishing powder polishing The high-speed rubbing of the polishing powder on the glass surface can remove scratches, sassafras, etc., which can greatly improve the light transmission and refraction effect of the glass. Before polishing, the polished parts must be sanded with a pure surface It is polished with a diamond abrasive disc of more than 400 mesh. This polishing method uses many tools and materials, but the better effect is the wool wheel cerium oxide (common name: rare earth polishing powder).
Applicable material glass: most glass products
Method 3: acid polishing Use the corrosive effect of acid on the glass to perform glass surface treatment. Before polishing the glass surface also needs to be polished with abrasive belts, because acid polishing can reduce the thickness of the glass a lot, but it may not completely remove the glass lines.
Applicable material glass: any glass (but the polished effect is determined by the glass material itself)
The 2nd method isusually used in Level Gauge Glass and Sight Glass Disc polishing, and 1st method is often used for glass tube end polishing.
